HAMAP: Anabaena variabilis (strain ATCC 29413 / PCC 7937) complete proteome

General information

Species:  Anabaena variabilis (strain ATCC 29413 / PCC 7937)
Species code: ANAVT
Taxonomy: Bacteria; Cyanobacteria; Nostocales; Nostocaceae; Anabaena (TaxID: 240292) [NEWT/ NCBI]
Description: Anabaena variabilis ATCC 29413 is a filamentous heterocyst-forming cyanobacterium that fixes nitrogen and CO2 using the energy of sunlight via oxygen-evolving plant-type photosynthesis. It has also been studied extensively for the production of hydrogen using solar energy. It has a complex life cycle that includes different types of differentiated cells: heterocysts for nitrogen fixation, and akinetes (spores) for survival. It has been studied extensively for over 40 years and is the strain of choice for many laboratories throughout the world.
Properties: Presence of flagella: No
Interaction: No
Number of membranes: 2
Number of inteins: 1
Statistics: Number of ANAVT entries in the UniProt Knowledgebase: 5634 (454 in UniProtKB/Swiss-Prot + 5180 in UniProtKB/TrEMBL)
